The Grand at Moon Palace

What an enchanting experience at The Grand, an all-inclusive resort nestled in the beauty of Cancun, Mexico! Our family's love affair with this haven was sparked the moment we stepped out of the Cancun airport and into the care of a private driver, whisking us away to The Grand in a luxurious Suburban—a service well worth the extra cost.

Upon reaching The Grand, the warm greeting from the staff and seamless check-in process set the tone for our extraordinary stay. The spaciousness of our garden view room, located on the high floor of building 92 (#305), exceeded our expectations. Proximity to the water park, a crucial factor for a family with a child, made our choice even more delightful.

Prepare to be awestruck by the sheer size of the resort, but fear not—efficient staff driving large golf carts are at your service. The Grand is seamlessly connected to Nizu and Sunrise, forming part of the Moon Palace. As guests of The Grand, we enjoyed access to all three resorts, with various transportation options, including shuttle buses, bicycles, golf carts, or a leisurely stroll.

Our days at The Grand were a symphony of water park adventures, poolside relaxation, and beachfront bliss. The pool areas, complete with swim-up bars and daily activities, were a highlight. Beachside soccer and volleyball games added to the vibrant atmosphere. While the beach water was slightly discolored, the resort diligently cleared seaweed daily.

Dining at The Grand was a treat. Breakfast included room service and visits to The Grand Buffet, while poolside lunches featured burgers, chips with guacamole, and tacos. Dinner was a culinary journey at Circus (reservation required), La Cantina, Jade, JC Steakhouse (reservation required), and Tavola.  If you are staying at The Grand with your children, you must make a reservation for dinner at The Circus. This restaurant is for the kids! The meals include all of the kid favorites such as mac and cheese, hot dogs, burgers, onion rings, and chicken tenders. And of course, they have a huge selection of deserts to choose from. To top off the circus theme, every hour there is a live performance- some sort of circus performance but without the animals. After you have eaten your fill of yummy, your server will make your child a balloon animal. It was so much fun and should not be skipped.

For our daughter Ellie, the water park, Olympic pool, and the Playroom stole the show. The water park boasted a lazy river, thrilling waterslides, and play areas for younger kids. The Playroom, an indoor haven for all ages, offered a jungle gym, arcade games, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf, a high ropes course, and bumper cars—complemented by the on-site kids club.

Evenings were a delightful spectacle with hour-long shows, a perfect conclusion to each day. A few of the shows we were able to see included a fire show, tribute to Michael Jackson, Magic Show, and a Mind Show, and a Glow Show (our favorite). The rooms were comfortable and the resort offers different size rooms, swim up rooms, and ocean view.

Overall, our stay at The Grand was nothing short of delightful. With its stunning reception rooms, this resort is ideal for weddings, multigenerational family vacations, and families with children—made even better by the fact that kids stay FREE! Without a doubt, The Grand is a resort that beckons us to return, creating memories to cherish for a lifetime.
